on my first day of work, i went to city hall with a few people from the school to apply for my gaijin card. they decided to take me to meet the international relations department while we were they. and they decided that i needed to do the earthquake simulation they have so that i would be ready when one happens.
this was before the earthquake started. hence the nervous laughter.

then we had to get under the table b/c the earthquake started. pretty sure if this actually does happen to me while i live here, i'm just gonna freak out. but this time i just laughed. really hard.

then we had to put out the fire. the tv actually decided whether we were getting to the base of the fire to put it out or not. once the fire was out, they made us run thru this hallway that was full of smoke to see if we would be able to get out of our apartments during the real thing. i mostly just giggled during that too.

after getting out, we found out that they had videotaped the whole thing so we could evaluate how we did. i don't think i'm supposed to laugh that much in an earthquake.

they also gave us a fake newspaper with our picture on it declaring how we survived the terrible earthquake. that's a keeper.
now how many of you get to have this much fun on your first day of work? that's what i thought.
