my first saturday in japan

i live in yokosuka which has a naval base. once a year they open up the base for the local japanese residents to come in and look around. they call it friendship day. even though i didn't really need to be familiarized with the inner workings of the base, my friend from orientation pointed out that it is a good opportunity to see what's in there since it is usually off limits, and find out what the big mystery is. plus, i was hoping to get some taco bell. plus, i wanted to see someone i knew who i could speak the same language as. but it actually was alright. i ate at the best new york pizza joint, sbarro, watched a parade, checked out the area by the station,hung out with a friend, vented about the apartment situation, and saw some fireworks.
