4th of july

so i'm finally getting around to putting up the stuff from my last couple of weeks in japan. better late than never i guess.

this was 4th of july weekend, i went out to stay the weekend in fuji city with andrea and joe one last time. we were also able to go to the tanabata festival in hiratsuka. it was super packed but worth it. they put up these lights and bamboo decorations all over downtown and it is a really pretty atmosphere.

sexier than water

the other day, i walked to the kombini on my lunch break to get a refreshing beverage. they had sprite zero, which they had never had before, so i joyously purchased it. i walked back to school and sat down at my desk to have a well-deserved swig of sprite and was informed that sprite zero is not only new, but it is also sexier then water. i knew i picked it for some reason.

does sprite zero deem itself the sexiest beverage in nebraska or is this just a japan thing?

sarushima

this island is really close to where i live. it use to be a fortress to protect tokyo bay so there are a lot of tunnels and old buildings. and of course, trees and rocks and water.

enoshima

enoshima is a small island of temples and some caves carved out by water over thousands of years. it is fun to visit b/c you get to take the little enoden train. and sorry for the millionth picture of cliffs and the sea. don't forget, i live on an island. plus, i like the scenery. a lot.

p.s. that dragon was in the back of one of the caves. if i was a little kid that would've really freaked me out. but since i am an adult and it was lit with a black light, i was okay.

godzilla sighting at kurihama flowerworld

kurihama is home to yokosuka's godzilla slide. sometimes they put an inflatable cheeseburger in front of it. but there wasn't a cheeseburger this time. darn.

poppies were in season when my mom and i were here. it was super pretty. i didn't realize there were so many different colors of them.
